The Bookshop
We are one of the three CTS Bookshops which serve the Catholic Population of the UK - the others are situated in Cardiff and London. Contrary to popular belief, we are not a chain. However, all three shops carry the full range of booklets, Vatican documents, and educational resources which are published by the Catholic Truth Society in London. To find out more about these items, please visit their website
The Manchester bookshop is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and on Saturday from 9am to 1pm. We have a large selection of Books, DVDs, CDs, Statues, Rosary Beads, Jewellery and Greeting Cards. In the past few years, we have established trade links with the major Catholic publishers in America, such as TAN Books, Ignatius Press, Sophia Intitute Press, and Queenship Publishing. The result is that we now carry an impressive range of American titles.
How to find us
The Bookshop moved to its current premises on Brazennose Street in February 2000 (up till then we were alongside the Town Hall on Princess Street). Customers who are aware of the location of St. Mary's (The Hidden Gem) Church will be delighted to hear that we are but a stone throw from there - as you leave the church, walk up the few steps in front of you, continue through the passageway, down the three steps and turn right onto Brazennose Street. We are next-door-but-one to the Post Office on your right.
Finding the shop is easy once you have located Manchester Town Hall. With your back to the main entrance of the Town Hall, walk down in a straight line and cross the pedestrian crossing. Brazennose Street is the pedestrianised street directly in front of you. We are halfway down on right hand side.
Parking
The main Arndale Shopping Centre car park is some distance from the shop, but it might be the most convenient place to park if you have other shopping to do. If you want to be nearer, there are a number of Pay & Display parking spaces on the streets running parallel to Brazennose Street - Queens Street and Lloyd Street for example. Access these streets from Deansgate (see map below).
